Hast du schon einmal einen laufenden Motor beobachtet und dich gefragt, was im Inneren eigentlich passiert – wie sich die Kolben bewegen, wie sich die Ventile öffnen und schließen und wie all diese einzelnen Bauteile als eine einzige Maschine zusammenarbeiten? Der R-5 Flugzeugmotor wurde entwickelt, um genau diese Mechanik sichtbar zu machen.
Der von der Kinner Airplane & Motor Corporation in den USA entwickelte und 1935 zertifizierte Fünfzylinder-Sternmotor trieb in den 1930er-Jahren und während des Zweiten Weltkriegs zahlreiche Schulflugzeuge an.
Zuverlässig, luftgekühlt und durch seine charakteristische Sternanordnung sofort erkennbar, bereitete er Generationen von Militär- und Zivilpiloten auf das Fliegen größerer und leistungsstärkerer Flugzeuge vor und sicherte sich damit seinen Platz als eines der mechanischen Herzstücke der frühen Luftfahrt.
Schließe das USB-C-Kabel an, schalte das Modell ein – und dieser unverwechselbare Rhythmus erwacht zum Leben.
Fünf Kolben bewegen sich in der korrekten Zündfolge – 1-3-5-2-4 – während sich darüber die Ventile präzise synchron öffnen und schließen. Der Propeller dreht sich gleichmäßig, während sich der gesamte Mechanismus in den ruhigen, gleichmäßigen Lauf einpendelt, für den Sternmotoren bekannt sind, und so den Geist der frühen Luftfahrt direkt auf deine Werkbank bringt.
Jedes Bauteil ist bewusst sichtbar konstruiert: Metallstößelstangen, Druckfedern, zahnradgesteuerte Ventilsteuerung und eine Kurbelwelle, die alles miteinander verbindet – von dir zusammengebaut, direkt vor deinen Augen in Bewegung und allein durch die Mechanik selbst erklärt.
Der gefräste Propeller verfügt außerdem über einen integrierten Sicherheits-Auslösemechanismus, der den Antrieb entkoppelt, sobald ein Widerstand auftritt. Dieses durchdachte Detail schützt sowohl das Modell als auch neugierige kleine Hände, Pfoten oder alles andere, was dem laufenden Motor einmal zu nahe kommt.

Usual great detail, and quality. Different colored part are an awesome addition to the normal UGears products. More of that in future models is needed. Great kit, took about 8 hours to assemble, but it may take longer if you have less experience with UGears kits.

Das Modell ist sehr gut, technisch super entwickelt es passt alles gut und ist alles gut beschrieben die Konstruktion ist hervorragend da ist nichts zu bemängeln.
Just finished building mine today. And it works! Took around 8 hours in total and I thoroughly enjoyed the construction process, greatly aided by the wonderful pictorial Assembly Instructions booklet, and I learned a great deal about the workings of a radial engine. The notes clarifying the 'critical' actions were useful but it still required intense concentration to get everything correctly positioned and to keep checking for freedom of movement. The precision of the laser-cut parts is awesome and the person who designed this kit must be a genius to get it all to interconnect so finely. The 'extra' pieces (in case of breakages) is a good idea although I didn't need to use any.
I have purchased about 20 U Gear models, and emjoyed every one of them, but this one has to be the worst one of them all. To many small parts. Parts that fit to tight and have to br filed to fit. Nothing likes to lineup because of the construction plans. I am on part number 31 and the cylinders do not like to be installed correctly without some prombles. So far I have broke 5 pieces and had to repair them with glue. There is no way I would recommend this model to my friends.

I am at 80 year old man who built bottles when I was a kid I love to build your models. They are a little bit hard sometimes between left and right hand and stuff like that on him but I get it done and it worked. I loved loved the project.

I love you work. But, this time I had to throw this one out Just before the end (I was at Page 30 of the instructions manual). For that part you had to push down quite strongly to put down the cap of the single cylinder, I ended up breaking some pieces, for this rease I think thatthe the whole strutture could have been designed Better. Also, toothpics for a model that cost up tò 90 euros I don't think it's a good choice. Sorry for my english and anyway I still likes your models very much

Had to sleeve the push rods to maintain contact with the rocker arms.
Aside from that no problems works fine.
