Just to be sure, because I'm not so good at maths... what would be the plug combination for code 527??
I'd very much appreciate some help!

Great but the boy problem I had is that if I put an incorrect code, it will mess up the system and even the right code doesn’t work anymore. I had to use the clicks to open the safe. So if any of you have any propositions to make, just reply.
The model both works and looks great. Although, I made some changes to the lock, so that the rotation is completely smooth. It feels nicer, and also makes the safe a little bit safer, as it doesn't click at the right positions.
This is how I did this: I put a thick toothpick in the right place to move the small wheels away from the large ones: https://photos.app.goo.gl/fuwjgxVZvJpJGJHi6 and then I added some regular sponge below the large wheels to make them hold their positions; I also glued twp extra pegs that hold the sponge in place: https://photos.app.goo.gl/GKUGrri88vkNFEzL8 .
By the way, here's a spreadsheet that can compute the combination for you, and report any errors: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZwnGvezpGNUt7rYa1zkqEUJDYHhPy07OufGl7aN5IVQ/edit?usp=sharing . (A web form would be even nicer, I could make it, I just don't have a place to host it.)
Great Model, everything fits in *very* tightly so sometimes I had to use a hammer but otherwise I'm very impressed with the deisign aand this was a suer project to work on.
My first Ugears model. Got it for Christmas, finished today. Looks very cool. :)
Some notes:
1. Ignoring the instructions, I still managed to install one piece (#6) upside down. Sadly, I noticed it when it would have been too risky to disassemble, so technically my safe is now missing a couple of bits on the inside. On the other hand, unless you know what to look for, there are no traces of me messing up.
2. Waxing the gears was quite complicated. They worked at the end, but it felt like there must be an easier way to get it done.
3. The set of small files shown in the video instructions is really useful. :) Sure, they weren't necessary, but they made my life easier.
Overall, building the safe was a very fun project.
A few things of note:
The pieces fit very tightly, to the point where I was using the Auxiliary Hammer from my UGEARS Hurdy-Gurdy to pound many of the pieces into place. I broke one part trying to force it into place with my fingers because the fit was so tight, but the place where it broke was minor and it didn't cause any problems. Perhaps waxing the pegs would've made it slide into place easier.
The toothpicks did not always fit into the designated holes, so I had to sand down the toothpicks and pound them into place with the hammer.
Finally, the assembly instructions have you install the dollar sign backwards (starting on page 18). It's trivial to flip it and install it in the correct direction, but something to keep in mind.
I love puzzles and building things so when I came across ugears I had to have one. The safe is awesome it works looks good and was brilliant to make and will so be getting more thank you for a great kit and brilliant clear instructions stay safe be lucky

Hi Mikey ,
Thank you for sharing your experience and your high estimation of our work!
Great project! Originally bought this for my brother's Birthday but I got bored before I could deliver it and decided to assemble it myself. No regrets!
Administrator
Thank you Grant. You've made the Safe as the home banking will be probably the most trending activity
Hey ,
1.a great model
2.it es better instead candlewax to use wd40 silikonspray for all meachanical parts?
3.can you make a modell of Ju 52
Good luck and enjoy
Klaus
Administrator
Hi Klaus,
thank you sharing your experience and questions. You can use candle wax, bee wax, tea candle - any wax that are not absorbed by wood.
Yes, we can do our version of Ju 52. We do love planes and will create some models in future
Have a nice day,
Ugears Team
I think it is a great wooden model and I would love to make more of them, though I wanted to know if you can somehow disable the mechanics that make it click when you get the right combination, otherwise, it is really easy to open with no frame of reference
Administrator
Hi Josiah,
thank you for sharing your experience. A safe-cracker should have a musical ear to listen the click :) Anyway this option will help you to recall the right combination code for opening in case you forget it
We wish you a Happy Year 2020!
I did some mistakes and had to rework but instructions were clear, I just didn’t pay attention enough.
Very impressed by the mechanism with these pieces of wood connected to each other without screws, nails or glue.
I am now thinking about the next one... any recommendation for a higher level of complexity and smart movements ? I need challenges ;-)

Heyhey
Unbeschreiblich, wie toll und mit welcher Intelligenz diese Herausforderung angegangen worden ist.
Ich finde diese UGEAR MODELLE einfach einzigartig.
Mein nächstes Exemplar ist das Traumc

Just like LEGO, you need to follow the instructions carefully, as its hard to undo when you go wrong, but the final result is great and to have the added bonus of turning it into a moneybox is cool.

Magnifique objet.

Wonderful model. It is both beautiful and useful. Whoever designed it is a genius.
I found that tying the lock with rubber makes it easier to unlock. With constant pressure that rubber provides mechanism snaps at 2nd digit and won't allow any further rotation, and it will unlock the safe immediately as I come near 3rd digit.
So, I removed the rubber strap and now it behaves more like real safe - first entering the combination and then pulling the handle.
Administrator
Hi Michael,
yes, it resembles the real bank vault and combine wood and mechanics.
The rubber band inself functions as a suspension of opening handle.
Also please find below the link to the article 'How to put your personal code during the assembly of the Ugears on Safe Vault model'. It might be useful as well.

Administrator
When I first saw the youtube video explaining the idea of your project and showing models I was amazed. A while ago I've bought a couple of models as gifts for my friends and also got one (the safe) for me. But when I opened the box by myself and started assembling it, I was unpleasantly surprised: how come that after realizing there is a bug in the assembly document you didn't reprint the instruction, but put this not very handsome attachment to it? It's really strange that now I can't even find complete corrected instruction somewhere on the internet. But the worst thing I experienced is: when building the model itself I realized that some details might be easily broken and there are no additional part in the kit. So, in my case after a short use the long tiny part of elements 25,26 got broken and now I can't do anything with that. It's impossible to fix it using any glue and despite the fact that these elements are very easy to change I'm not sure I can find them somewhere. :(

Hi Dima,
great to read that you enjoy the safe. We have got the math model for setting the code for the safe.
Here it is:
Let’s suppose you would like to put the code 416:
A=4, B=1, C=6
The Formula for setting plugs in the discs:
a) P2 = P3 - ((B - A + 8) mod 10)
b) P1 = P2 + (B - C) mod 10
where A, B and C are the digits of the wanted code.
For technical reasons, C can only be 1, 2, 6 or 7
P1, P2, P3 - plugs in the discs. For technical reasons, P3 - P2 ≠ 4
E.g. let’s find P1, P2, P3 for the wanted code 416:
1.
Complete formula a) step by step:
P2 = P3 - ((B - A + 8) mod 10)
P2 = P3 - ((1 - 4 + 8) mod 10)
P2 = P3 - (5 mod 10)
P2 = P3 - 5
If you don't now 'mod 10', than just go to google an type '5 mod 10' and google will tell you
2.
Set in valid values, there are many possible solutions. Just choose one with P2 and P3 being 0 to 9
P2 = P3 - 5
with P3 = 5, P2 is 0
with P3 = 8, P2 is 3
3.
Solve formula b) with the first of the possible combinations
We will use P3: 5 and P2: 0
P1 = (P2 + B - C) mod 10
P1 = (0 + 1 - 6) mod 10
P1 = -5 mod 10
P1 = 5
again: Google will tell you, that “-5 mod 10” is 5, just don't think about what this means :-)
Solve formula b) with the last of the possible combinations:
We will use P3: 8 and P2: 3
P1 = (P2 + B - C) mod 10
P1 = (3 + 1 - 6) mod 10
P1 = -2 mod 10
P1 = 8
again: Google will tell you, that -2 mod 10 is 8, just don't think about what this means :-)
So: for 416, use 838 or 505 for plugs in the discs.
At last, make sure to set the parts together the right way - as told in the manual. C is important when the wheels are put into the safe (For technical reasons, C can only be 1, 2, 6 or 7)

this model is beautiful, and I love that it is large and sterdy, you really dont need to be afraid to press and put the picies together.
the most awesome part is that the lock mechanism really works, this is like a like safe.
when you look at it from the front it is like a work of art. This is the second most favorite model from uGears, definitely a must have!
I got it on indiegogo, uGears you are amazing thank you.

P2 = P3 - ((B - A + 8) mod 10)
P2 = P3 - ((1 - 4 + 8) mod 10)
P2 = P3 - (5 mod 10)
P2 = P3 - 5
If you don't now 'mod 10', than just go to google an type '5 mod 10' and google will tell you
2.
Set in valid values, there are many possible solutions. Just choose one with P2 and P3 being 0 to 9
P2 = P3 - 5
with P3 = 5, P2 is 0
with P3 = 8, P2 is 3
3.
Solve formula b) with the first of the possible combinations
We will use P3: 5 and P2: 0
P1 = (P2 + B - C) mod 10
P1 = (0 + 1 - 6) mod 10
P1 = -5 mod 10
P1 = 5
again: Google will tell you, that “-5 mod 10” is 5, just don't think about what this means :-)
Solve formula b) with the last of the possible combinations:
We will use P3: 8 and P2: 3
P1 = (P2 + B - C) mod 10
P1 = (3 + 1 - 6) mod 10
P1 = -2 mod 10
P1 = 8
again: Google will tell you, that -2 mod 10 is 8, just don't think about what this means :-)
So: for 416, use 838 or 505 for plugs in the discs.
At last, make sure to set the parts together the right way - as told in the manual. C is important when the wheels are put into the safe (For technical reasons, C can only be 1, 2, 6 or 7)

Hi Jason,
thank you for reaching Ugears and for sharing our passion. It's pleasure for us that you enjoy our Safe.
And we believe that we'll keep amazing you again and again.
We can even give you more (for the future Safe models or for your friends).
Please find below the math model for setting the wishing code during the assembly

Let’s suppose you would like to put the code 416:
A=4, B=1, C=6
P2 = P3 - ((B - A + 8) mod 10)
P2 = P3 - ((1 - 4 + 8) mod 10)
P2 = P3 - (5 mod 10)
P2 = P3 - 5

I bought this on kickstarter. Dont be too worried about pressing hard to put it together. Really works amazingly well considering its wood. LOVE IT!
Great thing but I have some notes:
- Walls may be assembled easier if all the parts of particular wall were put together before assembling the walls together
- The lock mechanism does not go easy and the combination is set in relatively strange manner.
- The decorative elements on the door - very bad idea, but look really cool
- some elements are very hard to grease and you don't know how much to grease them before assembly
