MOTO COMPACT Folding Scooter
The Moto Compact folding scooter from Ugears is a clever, spring-driven addition to our family of two-wheeled DIY wooden models. For many youth, a motor scooter is their first form of motorized transport. It represents freedom, mobility, a fun way to get to school, activities, a first job. It's a ticket to explore the world beyond the neighborhood where you grew up. Capture that feeling of youthful freedom when you build this smart little folding scooter.
The Moto Compact folding scooter 3D puzzle packs quite a bit of power for its size. The wooden model scooter is driven by a spring-loaded engine, and is able to travel 2 m (six feet) on a single wind-up. The handle bars can be placed in one of three positions to send your Moto on a straight course, or curving to the left or right. Because this is a Ugears model, and because we delight in packing as much mechanical action as we can into our wooden DIY models, the Moto Compact comes loaded with great features, including front and rear suspension, and sophisticated folding capability for safe and easy transport.
To fold up your Moto Compact, grip the front and rear sections of the bike and push them together, which also collapses the handle bars to their tucked-away position. The folded scooter can now be slipped into a pocket and carried, or it can rest on its kickstand, which flips down from the left side of the body.
To start your scooter, grip and pull the front and rear sections slightly apart, which raises the handlebars. Press the driver's seat down to engage the "stop" mechanism. You can now wind the motor using the ratchet knob on the bike's right side. Raise the kickstand and lower the small guide wheels underneath for balance. Set the bike on the floor or other smooth surface, then hold it gently while pressing down on the passenger seat at the back, which serves as the "start" button. This pops the driver's seat up and engages the main gear—let go quickly and watch your scooter zoom off! After the scooter has stopped, if you want to start it again just repeat the cycle.
The Moto Compact folding scooter will appeal to anyone who loves two-wheeled transport: bikes, scooters, motorbikes and motor scooters. The Moto Compact folding scooter will make a great gift idea for their next birthday or holiday. The Ugears Moto Compact has 192 parts, is rated "Medium" difficulty, and is a fun, moderately challenging DIY project for hobbyists or for families to work on together.

Warning! Small parts.

As usual an amazing little device from UGEARS. This was a challenging build—that’s a lot of fun for the $8 this is currently on sale for. I didn’t think my motor was working at first, so I put a headlamp on and inspected the build while reviewing the manual. I jiggered with the gearing a little bit with the tips of my fingers until I started getting movement, then more movement. In a little while all the parts were mating really well and it was working flawlessly. UGEARS is a unique company. Buying from them is like joining a club of friends. These products take care to assemble correctly and a little breaking in to work properly. Enjoy the process! These are unique items!
It was a little more intricate for me than the drone but love it! The folding of the handle was a surprise feature and took a little bit of fiddling with the gear but got it working! Ordered another one to have it at the ready as a gift!
Looking good, not quite complete, but going well 😊
Picked this model up from my local hobby shop while waiting for replacement parts to the Dream Cabriolet to come in, was a great build. The kit I first picked up was missing a spring so this was remedied with a trade in at the hobby shop. This is the first model I got to work of the 3 I have built so far and I am very happy I got it to work.
i made a video of me building the model with verbal comments: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l0dpm3f5zdl939d/20220509_223321.mp4 (please note that the dropbox preview is only 1 hour long so to see the full 3.5 hour video you will have to download it)
I really enjoyed this project. It is well engineered and powered by a wind up spring. Lots of fun
I found it a very satisfying build for a level 2 difficulty. I took the time to paint the entire scooter. It took me two days to complete. The foldable aspect of the scooter works great.
It was a fun build and I enjoyed it. I recommend it highly. Instructions said to wind 10-15 times, I wound 12 times and the spring sprung. As a result, it did not go. Very disappointing. 4 stars instead of 5.
