Desert buggy
Welcome to the expanding fleet of vehicles in the amazing collection of Ugears wooden mechanical models. We would like you to meet our little pet: the fast and fun Mini Buggy. This miniature dune buggy is ready to take you on a ride.
If you are new to the world of Ugears clever mechanisms, the Desert buggy is one of the models you want to start with. It won’t overwhelm you with the amount of details as some of our more advanced-level models might, yet, the assembly of the Buggy is an interesting and very engaging process. Here you will need to use the color step-by-step instruction manual that comes in the box, but no glue or extra tools are required – everything you need for assembly is provided with the set.
The Desert buggy is driven by a rubber-band motor. Due to an open style body design, you can see the movement of the gears and wheels in the working motor. Just wind it up, pull the switch in the rear side of the model and your dune buggy will dart ahead. Or not ahead: you can adjust the direction of movement of your tiny vehicle by turning its front wheels – make it run circles chasing its tail if you like! While the front wheels make your Buggy maneuverable, the back, driving, wheels also provide stability. The rear wheels are larger and have rubber-band tires that ensure better surface traction and a smoother ride.
Like all Ugears models, the Desert buggy is made of natural fragrant plywood, the quality of which is verified by European laboratories.
If you still aren’t convinced that the Desert buggy equals an exciting time, we’d say that only two Mini Buggies can beat how much fun you can have with this model. Why? The explanation is very simple – two Desert buggys is a race!

Warning! Small parts.

15 yo Grandson loved it.
He loves to build things and has completed about 8 U Gears kits.
Simple but fun little build, and the buggy itself is adorable to look at. Love it.
I made this buggy with my grandson.
He is a big lego fan but this was so much fun to put together.
Its great to seen him develop the skills needed and the application really surprised me.
A great learning toy!
Hello
we just finished building the buggy with my son but it's not working.
The elastic band is rolling up when pushing the buggy backwards, but it wouldn't roll out so the buggy is not moving. What should we change?
Thank you
I bought this to build with my 9 year old. It is the first one we've attempted and it is definitely more complex than we expected, so the 14+ rating on it is accurate. The mechanical parts are fascinating. I was able to teach my son about gears, ratchets, and one way freewheels. Amazing.
The only thing I wish was the instructions had 1:1 images of the rubber bands so we could be sure we had the right ones. Kind of like Lego does with axles.
I received this for Fathers Day. It was fun building it. However when I got to the end the #44 pieces to hold the rear wheels on are too loose and the rear wheels keep falling off. They only go on one way.. The mechanism works but can not use it due to Rear wheels falling off? Any ideas? Surely it should not be like this? I only rated 3 but could have been a 5. I would like to keep buying these but need to know if they are all like this or not? Thank you.
The buggy was very fun to make, but I lost two pics.
Overall it works and it drives well
Its really cool, its a bit confusing with all the rubber band gears but its a funexpirience
