Mini-Biplane
The Wright brothers got it right. When these talented bicycle mechanics set out to build the world's first motor-driven, heavier-than-air airplane, they needed wings that could provide enough lift, yet be light and strong. They went with a biplane design, seen in early hang gliders. Biplanes have two fixed wings, one on top of the other, connected with supporting struts; the bracing permits a lighter wing structure. Advances in aviation technology and materials made the biplane obsolete by the late 1930s. However, biplanes remain a fixture and fan favorite at airshows to this day.
Ugears is known for producing beautiful wooden DIY models characterized by a throwback, steampunk sensibility. Naturally, when we decided to add a flyer to our collection of "Easy" models for young modelers, we couldn't resist the beauty and historical significance of the biplane. The Ugears Mini Biplane model is both a fun toy and an attractive decorative item to display on a shelf. We opted for an open design, making the Biplane fuselage light and transparent, revealing the model's inner workings. Machines should not be mysteries! We want to encourage our young builders' natural curiosity and help them learn about motors and simple mechanics.

Warning! Small parts.

There is too much friction between part 22/23 and part 18 (disc where rubber bands are attached). You can hear it squeaking. Looking at other reviews and youtube it seems almost nobody got it to work properly, but they blame themselves. I'll put a metal pin in between, I guess. Otherwise great fun to build for kids. 5 stars for building and looks, 1 star for not functioning.
this set looks cool, but after pulling the plane back to charge the motor, the propeller would not spin even after applying wax or grease
I loved making this SO much!! Very intuitive! A lot of thought went into making this. The details like the pistons moving are so cute. I didn’t put anything on the gears and they were a bit hard to move but that was my fault for not paying attention. I’d highly recommend this!!!
Belle maquette. Dommage que la mécanique ne fonctionne pas malgré les précautions prises à l’assemblage. Problème entre les engrenages qui s’imbriquent mal en perpendiculaire.
Amazing! This plane is my first Ugears set, it’s very simple to understand and as simple to build. The only thing: the wheels are being split by the string and if you don’t place that special stuff in between the gears, it will not work. Still Amazing!
