Book of Secrets
Assemble me. Discover my secret before entrusting me with yours!
Lock your secret notes, precious treasures, or other personal items inside the Book of Secrets from Ugears and keep them safe from curious eyes. Books have been used to hide items, in real life and in fiction, for almost as long as there have been books. Homeowners can conceal valuables from burglars by hollowing out a book and placing it on a bookshelf with other tomes. The secret book is easily found by the homeowner, but nearly impossible to find for the crook. In "The Matrix," Neo hides computer discs and cash inside a book, and who can forget the prison breakout in "Shawshank Redemption," accomplished using a rock hammer concealed in a Bible, the pages cut out starting at "Exodus."
Your Book of Secrets opens by entering a three-digit combination on the book's spine to release the secret key. Insert the key in the special slot and turn counterclockwise to engage the opening mechanism, then turn the gears counterclockwise to finally open the book. Did you forget the combination? Don't worry – you can open the Book of Secrets either by prying off the back panel or by playing safecracker, discovering the combination through touch.

Warning! Small parts.
My teen had fun building this box, so two stars for the experience. Three stars off, though, for the quality. Several pieces on the curved spine and another piece from the cover are broken. Also, the lock combination doesn’t really do anything. If you enter the code, the key should pop out, but in reality, the key protrudes enough anyway that it can be removed w/out the code. Or, if you tip the book on end, the key sticks out even further.
It was a lot of fun a great little unit. Keep your keepsake in it. The first thing I ever did it opened up.
A fun, fascinating, and useful puzzle! It's a challenge, though not a difficult build. (Follow the instructions carefully!) It's fun to show, and a secure storage. An excellent buy!
This puzzle had a couple tricky spots but it got finished and it works!! It looks great also. I think it was rated as a medium hard project and that is about right.
I think that the pièce no 105 on C8 would be in the other manner. This position don’t allow taking off the key when you push on the other side after enter code.

It came in great shape. We still have to put it together
Rated as "medium" difficulty, but there are several steps that are quite tricky (especially with the tumblers) and almost impossible to reverse without damage. The instructions aren't completely clear without first looking closely at the parts and checking next steps to ensure proper orientation. Take your time. The plywood quality isn't the best, so be patient removing parts from the flats or you will lose corners on the gears. You will probably use at least one of the spare parts. Be generous with the wax, and use it on ANY contact surface that moves, not just the gear teeth. Of the ten or so of these that I've built, this was the most annoying. Decent result, although mine had a bit of twist on a corner and minor blemishes due to the need to redo several steps.
Très bien.
