Marble Run Spiral Hoist

Assemble me. Let my marbles go!

The Marble Run Spiral Hoist is the fourth model in the Ugears’ collection of fascinating DIY wooden mechanical marble runs. There's something mesmerizing about marble runs. Kids and adults can get lost for hours watching the movement of these magical machines, and the Ugears Marble Run Spiral Hoist promises endless entertainment for all ages. Discover your inner engineer as you build this engaging 3D mechanical puzzle. If you're up for a challenge, why not assemble all four marble runs to quadruple the fun? You can leave the model in its attractive natural wood state or unleash your inner artist by painting it in different colors, as many Ugears fans around the world do.

Our team of designers created the Marble Run Spiral Hoist and our three other marble runs (Chain Hoist, Stepped Hoist, and Tiered Hoist) as fantastic standalone models, but also as modular elements that can be connected into a super Marble Run! You can connect any two or four marble runs with special connectors (included in each kit) to create a giant marble amusement park, featuring a variety of soaring lifts and obstacles to overcome on the descent. The escapement at the end of each set can send the marbles back to the original hoist, to an adjacent marble run, or alternate between the two (controlled by a special weighted switch).

Marble Run Spiral Hoist features:

  • Two types of rails to speed the ascent: the main spiral rails and vertical rails
  • Three exciting downhill tracks
  • Track 1: high-speed slide
  • Track 2: vertical snake
  • Track 3: mountain river
  • Hand-crank mechanism lifts colored glass marbles upward
  • Storage at the top holds marbles before they begin their descent

DIY wooden Marble Run features:

I've assembled a lot of Ugears models. This turned out a lot better than I would have thought, considering how complex it is. It worked on the first try. Take your time, sand and lubricate everything, use spray Dry-Lube, and its' great! Thanks for a great model!

This is a fantastic kit, with several gimmicks and a very clever track design. I used paraffin oil to lubricate it, which worked very well and it ran very smoothly. But there are some areas for improvement. I hope that the part near the lifting end of part 116 can be tasted a little better, and the E8 area can add a fence outside. I don't know why the ball sometimes flies out from there. And I hope to add electric drive, which will improve the viewing experience

Déçue par ce modèle contrairement aux autres de la série. Les engrenages sont imprécis et les billes restent coincées. Le bois est mou et les pièces ne peuvent pas être démontées. Tout reste coincé malgré un montage minutieux et de la cire

I loved building this kit, it was by far one of the more enjoyable ones I have done, the movement and design is fantastic!

There are however a couple of improvements I would suggest...

    1. Either pieces 37 need to be a bit longer or pieces 50 need to be a bit shorter, the balls keep getting trapped between them. I have removed them and taken the edges back a bit with some sandpaper and it runs better now.

    2. The torque from the handle is too much for the tower to resist, this would be improved if piece 25 could somehow be connected to the base at another point to help resist the torque.

    3. There are more moving parts in this model than I have encountered before and the wax is not always sufficient to lubricate the surfaces, I have taken some pieces apart and used a light furniture wax to improve them movement.

    Hopefully this helps!
