Automaton cyklista

Received this as a Christmas present and really enjoyed the build. I have built a number of Ugears models in the past and this was up to the usual excellent quality. The instructions are great and easy to follow. I was a little heavy handed fitting the cycle forks and managed to break one. Contacted ugears and they kindly sent me replacements, excellent service.

This was my first ugears model, but I’m pretty experienced with models and mechanical things in general. I was really impressed with how everything worked, but I did have issues with the cyclist’s knees hitting his elbows preventing proper motion. I’m 95% sure I followed instructions perfectly. I worked around it by placing washers at the hip joint to spread the knees out. Now it works perfectly! Can’t wait to get another one.

I enjoyed this, slowly, all the better.
I waxed rigorously, a previous error, but still found the mechanism sticky. I struggle to get the rear wheel in sufficiently close proximity to the cog for the pedals to turn. I may have improved traction between cogs with "Heath Robinson" made rubber bands but still the feet do not revolve. I may have to use glue! (Oh no! Did I really say that?). PS. This was my 3rd model, another just ordered.

Excellent product. I managed to break one part during assembly - applying too much fore to ensure parts fully engaged, so my fault. Ugears sent a replacement from Ukraine (!) in about 3 weeks, at zero cost. Super service.
Sole comment otherwise is make sure the mechanism for thcyclists’ leg movement really is friction free, otherwise the rubber band between rear wheel and chain wheel struggles to do the job.
Also, the waxlubricant block I found was too small, so I used ‘Bert’s BEEs lip salve’ which works great.,

Extremely fun build. Loved it. I've learned from other models, wax everything. Smooth after the wax. Enjoy.

What fun this model is to make. The pieces are exceptionally accurate and fit so well. I’m a modeller but it needed absolutely no trimming - just follow the instructions. It works amazingly well - you might expect friction between the wooden parts. But just apply to touch of the wax provided and it spins smoothly. I’m very impressed. Thanks - I’m looking at building another one.

I got this one as a Present for Christmas and enjoyed it very much!
I´ve enjoyed it a lot, the instructions are very clear and organized (pg.8 confused me a bit, but it was easy to correct once i saw my mistake) and also the parts are very well organized and lasered!
Breakage was minimal (just a bit of surface Layers here or there, some five Pieces in total out of 189, and you can always turn them around)!
For me it was about 3h (did watch a Documentory on Arte about Whales besides though), so it´s a nice pastime for Sundays...
I can only recommend!!!

Really enjoyed making this and it has easy to follow instructions. No glue to get everywhere is a bonus. Would truly recommend to anyone.
